We got to talk to the boys on the webcam Monday morning--Sunday night at home. It was so great to "see" them and thier sweet little faces. They were soo excited to see us too. It was cute! They kept saying, "We want to see Emma. Where is Emma?" We had to explain again that that woudl be when we called Tuesday night. It is fun to see thier excitement about thier new sister.
We definitely had one of our more adventuresome travel excursions yesterday. Eric and I love to get off of the beaten path when we travel and explore an area. So, we did just that yesterday. We started the day with Starbucks again...ok that is not the adventuresome part. ha! Then we took a bus to the MRT and found our way to the north end of Taipei. We did some shopping and then stopped in for a lunch at a restaraunt where no one spoke one bit of English. Hysterical experience to say the least. The poor waitress had to a call a friend on her cell who spoke english to help her place our order. Eric could say Beef in Mandarian so we got beef....weren't sure what else was coming. A noodle dish came as well..full of seafood......all kinds of seafood...shrimp (eyes and all), octopus, squid, clams and a few other things I really have no clue what it was. It was fun though. After that we finally found our way to another market known by tourists as Snake Alley. Not a place you would want to explore if you were not a fan of snakes. The funniest thing was trying to get a young girl in a cell phone store to tell us how to get there. She was so sweet and really wanted to help us..she spoke english fairly well and was about 20 years old. She listened to us and said speak slower as we explained we wanted to go to Snake Alley. She said What? We explained it is a market where they have restaraunts and snakes and she looked so surprised and said, "You want to EAT snake?" We both cracked up and said "NO"...we want to go where other people eat snakes. Hysterical. I am sure she thought what is up with these two crazy Americans! So, she finally figured out what we were saying and we headed off again for the MRT ride to the market. We found it just find. Stopped off first at a Buddhist Temple that was so intricate and detailed. We went inside which was quite an experience. I really enjoyed seeing that. Ok...now we found our way into the market and let me tell you it is called snake alley for a reason! CRAZY...snakes in cages at the front or inside of every restaraunt. We even saw an alligator in a cage in the front of one restaraunt. Wow!! It was quite an experience...felt like I was hosting a show on the Travel Channel of Most Extreme Places. It was well worth the the walking and MRT rides to experience that.
So, that's a quick summary of the fun we had here on Monday.
